through an intravenous line. It is commonly prescribed when oral supplements are
ineffective or not well tolerated.
Am I eligible for an iron infusion? +
Eligibility typically requires a diagnosis of iron deficiency or anemia supported
by blood tests and a referral from your healthcare provider. You must be over 18.
I am pregnant, am I eligible for an iron infusion? +
Yes. Venofer is safe after the first trimester and during lactation. Monoferric is
not approved for use during pregnancy in Canada.
Who administers the infusion? +
All infusions are administered by licensed Advanced Care Paramedics with extensive
clinical experience.
Where can I receive my iron infusion? +
- At home: Enjoy the convenience and comfort of treatment at home.
- Medical clinic: Receive your treatment at Lucina Birth Centre.
Is it safe to have an iron infusion at home? +
Yes. Our paramedics are fully trained and equipped with emergency supplies.
Do I need a referral? +
A referral from a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Midwife is required.
How long is the infusion? +
Appointments typically take 1–2 hours, including post-infusion monitoring.
How many infusions will I need? +
The number varies by individual and medical need, as determined by your provider.
Are there any side effects? +
